Becoming a Certified Flight Instructor – Instrument is a significant step in advancing your aviation career and expanding your ability to teach. A CFII is more than an instrument-rated pilot—it is an instructor capable of developing safe, confident, and knowledgeable IFR pilots. Our personalized CFII program is designed around the FAA Airman Certification Standards (ACS), preparing you to effectively teach instrument procedures, evaluate student performance, and confidently guide pilots through the challenges of instrument flight.
Through individualized ground and flight training, you’ll strengthen your instrument knowledge, refine your flying skills, and develop the instructional techniques necessary to successfully complete the FAA practical test and excel as a professional flight instructor. Each lesson is tailored to your progress, ensuring you are prepared for both the checkride and the responsibilities of providing high-quality instrument instruction.
Training Highlights
Ground Instruction: Receive comprehensive, one-on-one instruction covering all knowledge areas required by the FAA CFII Airman Certification Standards. Training includes IFR regulations, weather theory, instrument systems, navigation, charts and procedures, approaches, departures, arrivals, holding procedures, airspace, aircraft performance, risk management, aeronautical decision-making, and instrument-specific teaching techniques. Emphasis is placed on developing the ability to clearly explain complex instrument concepts, identify student challenges, and provide effective instruction.
Flight Training: Develop the skills necessary to confidently demonstrate, teach, and evaluate instrument procedures to FAA standards. Flight training focuses on instrument approaches, holds, intercepting and tracking courses, IFR procedures, scenario-based instruction, student error recognition and correction, cockpit communication, and effective instrument briefings and debriefings. You’ll learn how to conduct professional instrument lessons while building the confidence to safely manage students in the IFR environment.
